• Dr. Susanne Heartsill

  
  Dr. Susanne Heartsill is a 1999 graduate of the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. The program at MSU allowed Dr. Heartsill to pursue additional educational opportunities at Auburn University (neurology), Animal Medical Center in New York (nephrology/cardiology), Animal Emergency Center in Milwaukee, WI (emergency medicine) as well as working with Dr. Jimmy Milton (surgery) and Dr. Susan Nelms (ophthalmology)in Birmingham, AL. Dr. Heartsill also has extensive additional training in laser surgery. Dr. Heartsill is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management (IVAPM), the Memphis/Shelby County Veterinary Medical Association (MSCVMA), Veterinary News Network (VNN) and Veterinary Information Network (VIN). She is on the board of the MSCVMA and the Downtown Neighborhood Association. Dr. Heartsill's areas of interest include laser and orthopedic surgery, pain management, cancer management and emergency medicine. Dr. Heartsill practiced at Terrell Mill Animal Hospital in Marietta, GA and at Cobb Veterinary Emergency and Referral hospital also in Marietta, GA prior to opening Downtown Animal Hospital in February 2004.

  Shane Heartsill is the Hospital Manager for Downtown Animal Hospital. He is a 1995 graduate of the Mississippi State University College of Forest Resources. Shane was employed by Georgia Pacific in Atlanta, GA prior to moving to Memphis. Shane's areas of expertise include day to day operations and team management. Additionally, Shane successfully completed a course in Veterinary Management by the American Animal Hospital Association.
